Builder Brokers are the original building brokers Brisbane. Born out of the frustration we heard time and time again from landowners who struggled with building quotes and the early stages of construction.
Trying to source a builder, organise all the information needed for a quote and then comparing the quotes, was a barrier for many people who had the dream of building a custom home. The time needed was extensive, the learning curve was overwhelming.

Michael Shekell is the owner and co-founder of Builder Brokers. He has over 20 years of hands-on experience in the construction and property industry along with a deep passion for ‘all things building’.
Michael loves nothing more than to work closely with clients and builders to achieve exceptional results with each and every build project.
Starting off his construction career in England, Michael worked on many new and re-establishment projects, specialising in ‘West Country’ architecture, stone masonry and specialised carpentry projects.
After 3 years abroad, Michael returned to Australia to take on a senior role at Morgan Brooks, an industry leading finance brokerage firm. This role provided Michael with immeasurable experience in all areas of lending… Commercial, development and residential.
Armed with skills, knowledge and experience, Michael knew he could make a difference to people wanting to build and develop. And so Builder Brokers was established.
Through Builder Brokers, Michael has contracted and led both small and large building projects. He has worked with large commercial contracting firms, project home builders, humble niche local contractors as well as nationally award-winning prestige contractors.
Michael has completed thousands of South East Queensland contracts – specialising in development sites, custom home builds, inner city lot reconfiguration and renovation projects.
An active investor and developer himself, Michael has built, sold and developed projects for his personal property portfolio in both South East Queensland and Victoria. And when you don’t see him on a construction site, you will most likely find him at home relaxing and making memories with his young family.
